Biography:

Dr. Pantazopoulos began his training in postmortem studies of the hippocampus of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in the laboratory of Dr. Francine Benes. He then continued his interest in these disorders using postmortem and animal model approaches in the Translational Neuroscience Laboratory under the guidance of Dr. Sabina Berretta, during which he contributed to the development of studies focused on the role of chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans in schizophrenia.

Dr. Pantazopoulos’ research interests on schizophrenia are complemented by his research into the role of sleep and circadian rhythm abnormalities in bipolar disorder, using a combination of postmortem and animal model approaches focusing on the amygdala and suprachiasmatic nucleus.
