Biography:

Marissa E. Maheu, PhD, completed her doctoral degree under the supervision of Naguib Mechawar, PhD, at McGill University where her work with the McGill Group for Suicide Studies focused on the relationship between structural neuroplasticity in emotional processing centers and suicide. As a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Kerry J. Ressler, MD, PhD, Dr. Maheu employs behavioral, molecular, and transgenic approaches to characterize hyperplastic neurons in the amygdala and to study their role in the development and expression of fear.

Dr. Maheu is the recipient of two Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships, and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
