Biography:

Nathaniel Van Kirk, PhD, is a clinical research fellow at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, working in the Office of Clinical Assessment and Research at the OCD Institute. He completed his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Virginia Tech and his internship at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Van Kirk’s research focus is on predictors of treatment outcome for severe/treatment refractory OCD and anxiety disorders. Of specific interest is the conceptualization and impact of motivation on the treatment process and how the presence of trauma/comorbid PTSD may impact outcome in empirically validated treatments.
