Clinical Services

McLean Hospital provides an array of clinical services designed to meet the needs of each of our patients at every stage of treatment. Services are offered at a number of locations, including at the hospital's main campus in Belmont.

Clinical Divisions

McLean has a programmatically-based divisional structure that allows for the full integration of the Hospital’s clinical care, research, and educational activities.

McLean's Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse offers a variety of levels of care.

Signature Recovery Programs (Fernside and Borden Cottage)

Expert, residential treatment for adults with alcohol and drug addiction and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.

Ambulatory Treatment Program at Naukeag

A treatment program in Ashburnham, Massachusetts offering residential or partial hospital treatment for adults with substance use disorders which may be complicated by other psychiatric conditions.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Program

A structured, secure, inpatient detoxification program for adults with substance use disorders. A partial hospital level of care is also available.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Outpatient Program

A comprehensive consultation and treatment program for individuals with substance use disorders.

Specialized addiction and mental health services designed specifically for men and women in uniform.

McLean's Simches Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry offers a variety of levels of care.

McLean 3East

An intensive residential treatment program for adolescents ages 13 to 20 who exhibit impulsive and self-endangering behaviors.

Adolescent Acute Residential Treatment (ART) Program

A short-term, residential treatment program for adolescents ages 12 to 19 with emotional and behavioral difficulties including a track for those with substance-use disorders.

McLean-Franciscan Child and Adolescent Inpatient Unit

In partnership with Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton, Massachusetts, McLean offers inpatient treatment for children and adolescents ages 3 to 19 who require intensive psychiatric stabilization.

McLean SouthEast Acute Residential Treatment (ART) Program

An intensive, short-term treatment program in Middleborough, Massachusetts for adolescents ages 13 to 19 with emotional and behavioral difficulties often complicated by alcohol and drug use.

Child and Adolescent Outpatient Service

An array of outpatient services are available for children and adolescents ages 8 to 19 with conditions such as depression, anxiety, phobias, and bipolar disorder.

Child and Adolescent OCD Institute

A residential program for children and adolescents ages 10 to 17 who present with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), specific phobias, and anxiety disorders.

McLean Anxiety Mastery Program

An outpatient program for children and adolescents ages 9 to 18 who present with social anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, separation anxiety, and obsessions and compulsions.

The Landing at McLean HospitalTM

A dual-diagnosis, residential treatment program for adolescents ages 13 to 19 who are struggling with co-occurring substance use disorder and psychiatric illness.

Child and Adolescent Testing Service (CATS)

A testing service for children and adolescents with neuropsychological difficulties that are interfering with their ability to manage everyday demands.

Therapeutic Schools

McLean Hospital is home to two specialized therapeutic schools, the Arlington School and Pathways Academy.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Institute

A treatment program offering residential or partial hospital treatment for adults ages 16 and older who suffer from severe or treatment-resistant OCD.

McLean SouthEast Adult Psychiatric Program

A treatment program in Middleborough, Massachusetts offering residential or partial hospital treatment for individuals with various types of psychiatric illness such as depression, anxiety, and psychotic disorders.

Adult Outpatient Clinic

An array of outpatient services are available for adults with conditions such as alcohol and drug addiction, depression, anxiety, and psychotic disorders.

Behavioral Health Partial Hospital Program

A comprehensive, multi-track treatment program which serves as a step-down from or as an alternative to inpatient care.

McLean Pavilion

A comprehensive evaluation and diagnostic program for adults with complex or treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions.

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)

An outpatient service for adults 16 and older with depression and anxiety who have not responded to medication or other forms of treatment.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

An outpatient treatment program that uses magnetic stimulation to help control mood in adults with major depression.

McLean Lincoln

A transitional residence in Lincoln, Massachusetts for adults receiving partial hospital or intensive outpatient care for mood and anxiety disorders on the McLean Belmont campus.

McLean's Geriatric Psychiatry Program offers a variety of levels of care.

Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unit

An inpatient unit for the evaluation and treatment of adults ages 50 and older with cognitive functioning disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Geriatric Outpatient Clinic

An array of services are available for adults ages 50 and older with depression, anxiety, and cognitive function disorders.

Older Adult Unit

A short-term treatment program for individuals age 50 and older who require an inpatient level of care for conditions such as mood and anxiety disorders.

Geriatric Enhanced Outpatient Program (SAGE)

A treatment program for adults ages 50 and older with mood disorders, anxiety, or adjustment disorders.

Geriatric Memory Diagnostic Clinic

A comprehensive program for adults ages 50 and older focused on the diagnosis and treatment of memory disorders or other cognitive impairments.

McLean's Psychotic Disorders Division offers a variety of levels of care.

McLean Appleton

Comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitative services for adults ages 18 and older who have psychotic disorders or persistent psychiatric illness.

Schizophrenia & Bipolar Disorder Inpatient Program

Specialized treatment for adults with schizophrenia, bipolar and other psychotic disorders.

Schizophrenia & Bipolar Disorder Outpatient Clinic

An array of outpatient services are available for adults with psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

McLean OnTrackTM

A program specializing in the recognition and treatment of bipolar spectrum disorders and other conditions presenting with psychosis for adults ages 18 to 30.

Waverley Place

A community-based rehabilitation program which offers coordinated care and support for adults with chronic psychiatric illness such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

McLean's Division of Women’s Mental Health offers a variety of levels of care.

Hill Center for Women

An intensive, residential treatment program offering psychiatric services for women with histories of trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and borderline personality disorder. A partial hospital level of care is also available.

McLean Gunderson

A structured DBT residential treatment program in Cambridge, Massachusetts for women ages 21 and older with borderline personality disorder or other complex personality disorders.

Klarman Eating Disorders Center

A residential, state-of-the-art treatment program for young women ages 16 to 26 with eating disorders.

Dissociative Disorders and Trauma Program

A comprehensive treatment program for adults who suffer from the effects of childhood abuse or other painful traumatic events.

Gunderson Outpatient Program

A comprehensive, skills-training and therapy program for adults with borderline personality and related disorders.
