Staci Gruber, PhD, director of McLean Hospital’s Cognitive and Clinical Neuroimaging Core (CCNC) and one of the world’s foremost experts on marijuana and its effects on the brain will be featured in “Weed 3,” airing on CNN this Sunday, April 19, at 9 pm.

Dr. Staci Gruber, left, talks about her medical marijuana study with CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta during an interview filmed at the McLean Imaging Center this fall.

Gruber, who announced the launch of Marijuana Investigations for Neuroscientific Discovery (MIND) program at McLean Hospital in the fall of 2014, granted CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta an exclusive look at her groundbreaking study investigating the potential impact of medical marijuana on cognition, brain structure and function. Dr. Gruber’s study also gauges the study participants’ perceptions of their own quality of life as it relates to medical marijuana treatment.

“The preliminary results that we are seeing and what we shared with CNN and Dr. Gupta are very interesting and I think once we have all of the data, this work will ultimately foster a greater understanding of the impact of medical marijuana on cognitive function and brain structure, and may in turn facilitate the examination of the efficacy of marijuana for the different disorders for which it is prescribed,” said Gruber.

To see the early findings of Dr. Gruber’s study, tune into CNN on Sunday at 9 pm EST.
