Belmont, MA - Brent P. Forester, MD, MSc, who was recently featured on the television program Chronicle discussing depression, has been named Chief of the McLean Hospital Division of the Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Forester will continue to serve as the director of the Geriatric Mood Disorders Research program.
With the development of the DGP, McLean has completed its strategic goal of fully integrating the hospital’s clinical care, research and education activities into programmatically-based divisions. The DGP will include the Older Adult Unit, the Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unit, the Geriatric Psychiatry Outpatient Services, including the Geriatric Mood and Anxiety Disorders Clinic, SAGE (Seniors Aging Gracefully Everyday), and the Memory Diagnostic Clinic, as well as corresponding training and research activities.
In addition to his new role within McLean, Forester was recently named medical director for Behavioral Health within Population Health Management at Partners HealthCare. In this newly established role, Forester will work collaboratively with Partners member organizations to design and implement a comprehensive clinical service model that integrates behavioral health services with primary care.
“Known for his compassion and integrity, along with his innovative vision and drive to provide high-quality psychiatric services to some of our most vulnerable populations, Dr. Forester’s new positions at McLean and Partners provide a wonderful synergy,” said Scott L. Rauch, MD, president and psychiatrist in chief for McLean. “I can think of no one better to spearhead both important initiatives.”
