The cerebral cortex is a major site of dysfunction in schizophrenia. The main goal of Laboratory for Cellular Neuropathology is to determine how specific neural circuitry elements in the cerebral cortex are altered in this illness in order to understand how, collectively, neural circuits become functionally disturbed. We are also particularly interested in how these abnormalities may arise during development.
Altogether findings of our research have implications for the development of rational strategies for the diagnosis, treatment, early intervention and prevention of this devastating disorder.
The Laboratory for Cellular Neuropathology was founded in 2004.
