Joe B. Flores, MD

In his role as medical director of the Gunderson Outpatient Program, Joe B. Flores, MD, oversees intensive treatment for individuals with borderline personality disorder and other complex personality disorders. The program strives to develop effective treatment approaches for individuals who struggle with narcissistic, antisocial, histrionic, paranoid, avoidant, dependent and obsessive compulsive personality traits. The integration of treatment and the multiple tiers of clinical supervision are the foundational strengths of the program.

Along with the study of personality disorders, Dr. Flores’ primary clinical interest is to understand and engage the person behind the illness. Comprehension and engagement foster coherence, which can become an engine for change within an individual. He considers the family an invaluable resource in treatment and is committed to developing a McLean-based resource for families, dedicated to better understanding the family and advancing the various forms of family treatment.
