Biography

Karen Steves, MS, has worked at McLean since 2001. As co-director of Pathways Academy, she works to establish a safe and therapeutic environment for staff and students. Ms. Steves has been a certified trainer with the Crisis Prevention Institute since 2009 and is currently a master level certified instructor. She has attended nonviolent crisis intervention training programs in autism spectrum disorders and applied physical training as well as courses with FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute. Ms. Steves is a certified trainer with the ALICE Training Institute, with the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center (in bullying and cyberbullying prevention and intervention), and since 2009 has been an American Heart Association CPR and first aid trainer.

Ms. Steves provides annual safety training to Pathways Academy and other child and adolescent programs at McLean. She is an active member of the McLean community and currently serves as chair of McLean’s Green Committee.
