Throughout graduate school, Dr. Overstreet pursued training focused on evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents. Her various practica were housed in community mental health centers and schools, where she focused on play therapies, cognitive and behavioral therapies, narrative therapy, trauma processing, and various methods of family therapy. Early in her graduate school training, Dr. Overstreet was drawn to the balanced approach of dialectical behavior therapy and sought opportunities for training and supervision in DBT.

After graduation, Dr. Overstreet completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the 3East Intensive Program at McLean. She completed the foundational training in DBT through Behavioral Tech, as well as intensive and advanced training in the DBT+prolonged exposure protocol for trauma.
