Emergency on the McLean Belmont Campus

November 14, 2016 Print

Belmont, MA - Early this morning, McLean Hospital’s Codman Building, which was not currently being used, caught fire, resulting in significant damage to the building. Thanks to the Belmont Fire Department’s rapid response, the fire was contained to that one building and no other areas of the McLean campus were affected.

Since it was a closed building located in a remote area of the McLean campus, no evacuations were needed and no patient care services were disrupted. At this time, the cause of the fire is unclear, but we will work closely with the Belmont Fire Department during their investigation.

We are deeply grateful to the Belmont Fire Department, Belmont Police Department, and first responders from surrounding municipalities for their efforts this morning.

McLean Hospital is the largest psychiatric affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a member of Partners HealthCare. For more information about McLean, visit or follow the hospital on Facebook or Twitter.
