July 16, 2024

McLean Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham and a psychiatric affiliate of Harvard Medical School, has been named the #2 hospital in the nation for psychiatric care by U.S. News & World Report, according to results released today in the 2024-2025 “Best Hospitals” rankings.

This is McLean’s 23rd consecutive year as the top freestanding psychiatric hospital and the 33rd straight year being ranked among the top five psychiatric programs in the country. The top-ranked psychiatric programs in the country are determined by surveys of board-certified psychiatrists throughout the country.

“McLean is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness and we are honored that our longstanding commitment to serving some of our country’s most vulnerable people with high-quality and compassionate care, is once again being recognized by U.S. News & World Report,” said Scott L. Rauch, MD, McLean president and psychiatrist in chief.

“The need for access to the very best care and research in mental health has only grown in the past several years. Our pursuit of ever-better care for our patients and their families, cutting-edge discoveries in our labs, unique training opportunities for professionals and students, and advocacy around the globe for all of those affected by mental illness is our focus every day. I am tremendously grateful to each of our 2700 staff members who are devoted to accomplishing our shared mission together.”

Rauch continued, “We also take great pride in being part of the outstanding results across Mass General Brigham. As demand for mental health care increases across the state and around the world, the evidence-based treatment programs that we’ve established and continue to grow throughout our system are more vital than ever.”
