McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a member of Mass General Brigham, is pleased to announce that April Koh, CEO and co-founder of Spring Health, a comprehensive mental health benefit for employers and health plans, has joined the McLean Hospital Board of Trustees.
“April brings a wealth of experience to our board,” said Carol Vallone, chair of the McLean Hospital Board of Trustees. “Her innovative approach and dedication to mental health will be invaluable as we continue to advance McLean Hospital’s mission.”
Koh, who was named one of the 15 Most Powerful Women in Startups by Fortune and is an honoree on Marie Claire’s Power List, Forbes 30 Under 30, and Crain’s 40 Under 40, said McLean’s “ethos around multidisciplinary care” was among her reasons for becoming involved as a board member at McLean.
“I have long admired McLean’s uncompromising focus on patient outcomes across the entire spectrum of care,” said Koh.
“My co-founder and I started Spring Health because we saw an opportunity to leverage technology by empowering providers to deliver better outcomes for more patients. McLean’s ethos around multidisciplinary care rings true to me because it respects the complexity of mental health care and designs highly individualized solutions for each patient.”
“We are thrilled to have April join the McLean board and add her voice, knowledge, and expertise to this talented group of leaders who are deeply committed to supporting McLean and the people our organization serves,” said Scott L. Rauch, MD, president and psychiatrist in chief for McLean.
Koh’s company uses a technology called Precision Mental Healthcare to pinpoint and deliver appropriate treatment options for each person—including digital support, meditation exercises, coaching, therapy, medication, and more.
“I’m looking forward to learning from McLean’s team and my fellow board members, asking lots of questions, and thinking expansively about how technology can help ensure that McLean always remains at the forefront of innovation in mental health treatment,” Koh said.
“It is often said that great companies refuse to assume that the best solution to yesterday’s problem will continue to be the best solution tomorrow. The same is true in health, and I’m inspired by the opportunity to collaborate on what the future of mental health looks like.”
