Following a nationwide search, Michael Macht-Greenberg, PhD, MPH, who has been serving on an interim basis as one of the associate chief operating officers for McLean Hospital since October 2021, has been selected to assume the chief operating officer (COO) position for McLean, effective immediately.
In this role, Macht-Greenberg will serve as the executive responsible for the operations of all clinical services of McLean.
He will also lead a wide array of non-clinical operations, managing all business and support services, including health information management, regulatory preparation and accreditation, labor relations, emergency preparedness, ancillary service contracts, security services, facilities, materials management, and non-clinical risk management.

Macht-Greenberg will collaborate closely with Christine Tebaldi, PMHNP-BC, McLean’s chief nursing officer and the vice president of Nursing for Mass General Brigham Behavioral and Mental Health (BMH), as well as Joy Rosen, vice president of Mass General Brigham Enterprise Clinical Services, to support the clinical innovation, performance excellence, and value-based care agendas across McLean and in alignment with Mass General Brigham.
Additionally, he will work in collaboration with International & Destination Services to amplify Mass General Brigham’s mental health services internationally, and collaborate with hospitals across the system on issues related to clinical operations and service delivery.

An accomplished clinician-executive, Macht-Greenberg joined the Nancy and Richard Simches Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at McLean in 2016 and has served as the division’s senior director since 2019.
In this role, he has demonstrated measurable success improving clinical outcomes, access to care, and patient satisfaction metrics by fostering highly engaged and motivated teams of colleagues.
More recently, Macht-Greenberg has brought his skills to the office of the chief operating officer, where over the past 22 months, he has successfully navigated the matrixed systems of McLean and Mass General Brigham.
As interim associate COO, he has collaborated with colleagues to launch innovative initiatives that have benefited McLean’s workforce, patients, and their families.
Among his recent accomplishments are overseeing the design of the planned McLean child campus, working with leadership to increase access to care in our Middleborough locations, and leading McLean through successful Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory visits.
Macht-Greenberg holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brandeis University, a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University, and a master’s in public health from the Harvard University School of Public Health.
Prior to joining the McLean community, he held positions at Boston Children’s Hospital, Lahey Health, and UMass Memorial Healthcare.
In addition to his administrative work at McLean, Macht-Greenberg continues to work as a clinician in private practice, typically working with men adjusting to life cycle changes.
