McLean Hospital is recruiting registered nurses to fill new positions created by the expansion of its child and adolescent programs.

To kick off the recruitment effort, the Simches Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will host a Recruitment Forum on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 2:30pm. (Event details below).

According to Michael Macht-Greenberg, PhD, MPH, senior director of the Simches Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the hospital is moving its child and adolescent programs from the Belmont campus to a new campus in Arlington, Massachusetts. At the same time, the OCDI Jr. program is relocating from Middleborough, Massachusetts, to Belmont.

“It is an exciting time for our division because we are beginning a large-scale expansion of our programs,” Macht-Greenberg said. “We have waiting lists for some of our programs, and our motivation is to provide better access to care.”

As a result of these moves, the hospital’s Simches Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking qualified staff nurses with an RN license. Opportunities are available at McLean’s residential treatment programs in Belmont and Arlington as well as at its inpatient service located at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Brighton, Massachusetts.

Recruiting staff nurses with skills and experience in both medical and psychiatric care is critical to the success of McLean’s expansion plans. “These positions offer a unique opportunity for nurses to mix traditional medical care with sophisticated engagement in specialty clinical teams,” Macht-Greenberg stated. Qualified applicants will use their nursing skills to provide for the medical needs of patients and be trained in new therapies, such as dialectical behavior therapy and exposure response prevention.

In addition, nurses hired for these new positions will be able to work on newly created clinical teams and receive strong support and supervision from nurse coordinators. “Nurses are very valued members of our multidisciplinary treatment teams,” Macht-Greenberg explained. He said that the hospital is “creating nursing coordinator positions for our Belmont and Arlington campuses to give nurses the kind of support and supervision that is invaluable to their professional lives.”
