Biography
Beier Yao, PhD, is a clinician-scientist in the Division of Psychotic Disorders. She has expertise in neuroimaging, electrophysiology, eye tracking, and psychophysics, with a background in clinical psychology, neuroscience, and statistical modeling. Dr. Yao uses a multimodal approach to study the neurobiological mechanisms of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Her current research is focused on interoception (the processing, integration, interpretation, and regulation of bodily signals) and its relationship with symptoms and functioning in psychosis.
Dr. Yao received the 2022 President’s Award from the Society for Research in Psychopathology for her research work. Clinically, she specializes in evidence-based interventions for individuals with psychotic disorders, depression, and anxiety.
