Biography
Caitlin Ridgewell, PhD, MPH, collaborates with Dr. Ann Shinn to explore the relationship between psychotic and trauma disorders. Firstly, she studies how early life stress or trauma influences psychotic symptom severity and presentation. Secondly, she evaluates the association between progesterone metabolism and psychotic and trauma symptom severity. Her research has received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Scholars in Neuroscience Award from the National Institutes of Health and the Research Fund Award from the Schizophrenia International Research Society.
Dr. Ridgewell also collaborates with Dr. Kristin Heaton at the United States Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM), where she explores the neurobiological mechanisms behind transcutaneous vagal and trigeminal nerve stimulation. Furthermore, they explore the contribution of non-invasive nerve stimulation to military cognitive performance and stress reduction.
