Biography
Karen Bartholomew, MSW, LCSW, is the program director at McLean’s Borden Cottage, where she applies her social work education and experience to the field of addiction recovery, supporting patients with co-occurring disorders and their families. She sees her work with family members as essential, since they often struggle with the effects of their loved ones’ addictions and require their own support and education throughout the patients’ recovery process.
Prior to joining the staff at McLean, Ms. Bartholomew worked as a clinician, researcher, and administrator at Chestnut Lodge Hospital and the National Institute of Mental Health. During the course of her career, she has specialized in working with people struggling with severe mental illness, especially psychosis, depression, trauma, and personality disorders.
