Biography

Scott J. O’Brien strives to make a difference in the world by advancing understanding about mental illness, while reducing the stigma that is too often associated with psychiatric disorders. In 2016, he launched the Education Outreach program, focused on delivering high-quality and accessible information about mental health to broad audiences. Among the initiatives O’Brien has built is Deconstructing Stigma, an international mental health awareness and stigma reduction movement that has global audiences from the U.S. to India to Israel and beyond.

Beyond Deconstructing Stigma, O’Brien is responsible for the development of McLean’s popular mental health webinar series, as well as the annual suicide assessment and global impact of trauma online training courses. Through these efforts, O’Brien and his team are delivering on McLean’s mission to improve the lives of people and families affected by mental illness.
