Biography
Victoria R. Votaw, PhD, is a clinician-scientist in the Division of Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction at McLean Hospital. Her research focuses on improving treatment outcomes for substance use and co-occurring disorders using precision medicine approaches. Her recent projects have aimed to validate core processes and phenotypes underlying substance use disorders to guide the development of personalized interventions. Her work has been supported by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the Sarles Young Investigator Award for Research on Women and Addiction, and Harvard Medical School’s Zinberg and Livingston Fellowship Awards.
In addition to her research, Dr. Votaw specializes in cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies for substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders. She currently leads groups in the LEADER (Law Enforcement, Active Duty, Emergency Response) program and the Behavioral Health Partial Program at McLean.
