Program Leadership

Kirsten W. Bolton, LICSWKirsten W. Bolton, LICSW, Program Director

Since 2008, Ms. Bolton has been working with patients and their families in the Psychotic Disorders Division. A graduate of Simmons College, she began her work at McLean as a clinical social worker in the Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder Inpatient Program.


Ann K. Shinn, MD, MPH

 

Ann K. Shinn, MD, MPH, Co-Medical Director

Dr. Shinn is also director of clinical research in the Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder Research Program and an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Her current research focus is in understanding the neurobiology of symptom dimensions in psychosis. She is the principal investigator of a federally funded research grant (K23 award) to investigate how auditory, speech, and language regions are connected in the brains of individuals who hear voices.


blankRakesh Karmacharya, MD, PhD, Co-Medical Director

Dr. Karmacharya is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Stem Cell Research & Regenerative Medicine and Archives of Stem Cell Research. Author of numerous journal articles, his research focuses on applying chemical biology to identify new diagnostic and therapeutic leads for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.


Joseph Stoklosa, MD

 

Joseph Stoklosa, MD, Clinical Director, Psychotic Disorders Division

Dr. Stoklosa is also the assistant program director for the MGH/McLean Adult Psychiatry Residency Training Program. He is actively involved in educational research and founded the Clinician Educator Program for the MGH/McLean residency program. Dr. Stoklosa also developed the Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder Inpatient Program’s clinical care model, which is focused on improving the use of evidence-based treatment.

Staff and Associates

Our staff is composed of board-certified psychiatrists and psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, registered nurses, and expressive therapists. This highly trained and experienced team provides rapid, accurate diagnosis, thorough treatment and aftercare planning, and high-quality care tailored to each individual’s needs.
