Signature Addiction Recovery Programs

Addiction to alcohol, opiates, or other substances is a serious psychiatric illness, most often complicated by other mental health diagnoses such as depression and anxiety. At McLean Hospital, we are committed to providing exceptional clinical care to help individuals work toward recovery.
Our 30-day Signature Addiction Recovery Programs are ideal for those who:
- Seek to recover from addiction and coexisting psychiatric diagnoses
- Have completed detoxification and need longer-term discreet care in a serene setting
- Require medication evaluation and management
The Signature Addiction Recovery Programs—Fernside and Borden Cottage—specialize in treating men and women who have previously completed a treatment program but have relapsed or are at risk to relapse, who are ambivalent about making the changes needed to maintain sustained recovery, or who have tried other treatment programs but were not ready for and/or satisfied with the previous care.
We also offer a specialty track for those who have remained abstinent from substance use but have psychiatric issues that need to be addressed to foster full recovery.
Our dedicated intake staff works directly with individuals and their families to determine the best treatment program for each patient’s needs.
As the Signature Addiction Recovery Programs are self-pay, we do not accept insurance or assist with insurance reimbursement efforts. However, some fees may be recoverable through your insurance provider.
Our Signature Addiction Recovery Programs are two state-of-the-art, luxury alcohol and drug addiction rehab settings.
A restored historic inn, our Fernside program is located near Wachusett Mountain in scenic Princeton, Massachusetts. Borden Cottage, located in Camden, Maine, offers discreet care in a setting that offers a 270° view of Penobscot Bay. Both locations are beautifully furnished throughout, and all bedrooms are private and include full baths.
“I was so afraid when I went in. I didn’t know what to expect. But it was such a comfortable, warm environment. I felt safe. It did not feel like I was in a hospital. I was actually glad to be there getting help.”– Former Fernside patient
As an alternative or supplement to inpatient care, Fernside and Borden Cottage are 30-day residential substance use treatment programs with comprehensive around the clock care and supervision in a home-like, unlocked setting.
A month long stay at the program allows individuals the opportunity to concentrate only on their treatment and is recommended to ensure success and sustained recovery.
