McLean Executive Elected Board Chair-Elect of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems

Wayland resident Michele L. Gougeon, MSS, MSc, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for McLean Hospital, has been elected as Board chair-elect of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS). Gougeon will begin her term as Board Chair at the beginning of 2013.

The NAPHS is comprised of behavioral healthcare provider organizations that own or manage more than 700 specialty psychiatric hospitals, treatment facilities, substance abuse services and a wide range of other mental heath and youth services.

A member of the McLean staff for 25 years, Gougeon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a Master of Social Service degree in Policy Research and Development from the Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research and a Master of Science in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. She holds an appointment as lecturer in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

In addition to her role with NAPHS, she is also a Past Chairman and current Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay.
