Sivan Subburaju, PhD, is an instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and an assistant molecular neurobiologist at McLean Hospital. Dr. Subburaju’s main research focuses on translational psychiatry and neuroplastic changes associated with psychiatric disorders and stress. He has developed a novel in vitro model to study GABA cell dysfunction in schizophrenia, and established sophisticated methodology to delineate cellular and molecular changes associated with mental illness, specifically schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, in vivo.
The ultimate aim of Dr. Subburaju’s studies is to find novel therapeutic targets to treat cognitive dysfunction associated with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
