Caitlin K. Monaghan, PhD, joined the Psychosis Neurobiology Laboratory led by Dr. Mei-Hua Hall in 2017 as a post-doctoral research fellow. Her work investigates the neurobiological mechanisms underlying schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders in first episode psychosis patients, and how these markers can be used to predict later functional outcome. To do this, she analyzes specific EEG event-related potentials that are known to be deficient in many first episode psychosis patients as part of a longitudinal study tracking many biomarkers and other measures across two years.
Dr. Monaghan draws upon her doctoral training at Boston University in Dr. Michael Hasselmo’s Computational Neurophysiology Laboratory where she performed in vivo electrophysiology to investigate the neural mechanisms involved in spatial navigation.
